All Souls Day

   2 Maccabees 12:43-45  43 He also took up a collection, man by man, to the amount of two thousand drachmas of silver, and sent it to Jerusalem to provide for a sin offering. In doing this he acted very well and honorably, taking account of the resurrection. 44 For if he were not expecting that those who had fallen would rise again, it would have been superfluous and foolish to pray for the dead. 45 But if he was looking to the splendid reward that is laid up for those who fall asleep in godliness, it was a holy and pious thought. Therefore he made atonement for the dead, that they might be delivered from their sin.

In Paradisum

In Paradisum deducant te Angeli;in tuo adventu suscipiant te Martyres,et perducant te in civitatem sanctam JerusalemChorus Angelorum te suscipiat,et cum Lazaro quondam paupere,aeternam habeas requiem

May angels lead you into paradise; upon your arrival, may the martyrs receive you and lead you to the holy city of Jerusalem. May the ranks of angels receive you, and with Lazarus, the poor man, may you have eternal rest.

Saint Mary Magdalene – Prayer

Mary Magdalene Prayer Card

[Image Credit :]

“O God, when others were ready to condemn Mary Magdalene, Jesus accepted her with all her imperfections. She in turn accepted Your Son as her Savior. It was to St. Mary Magdalene, before all others, that Jesus committed the message of Easter Joy. Through her intercession may we proclaim Christ as our living Lord, and one day contemplate Him reigning in glory. Amen.”

Feast of All Saints

I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone— for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.               (1 Tim 2:1-4)

O Almighty God, Who hast granted us to venerate in one, solemnity the merits of an Thy saints, we beseech Thee that, as our intercessors are multiplied, Thou wouldst bestow upon us the desired abundance of mercy. Through Christ our Lord, Amen.

” Who can think that heaven will cost him nothing which cost all the saints so much? What temporal advantage is gained without pains? ”                                                                                                                       Rev. Alban Butler.

” God is the only object of supreme worship, and the whole of that inferior veneration which is paid to the saints is directed to give sovereign honour to God alone, whose gifts their graces are: and our addresses to them are only petitions to holy fellow creatures for the assistance of their prayers to God for us. When, therefore, we honour the saints, in them and through them we honour God, and Christ, true God and true man, the Redeemer and Saviour of mankind, the King of the Saints, and the source of all their sanctity and glory.”

St. Francis of Assisi Prayer

Francis of Assisi Laminated Prayer Card

A Prayer of St. Francis of Assisi

Lord make me an instrument of Your peace.
Where there is hatred let me sow love.
Where there is injury, pardon,
Where there is doubt, faith,
Where there is despair, hope,
Where there is darkness, light, and where there is sadness, joy.
O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled,
as to console;
To be understood, as to understand;
To be loved, as to love;
For it is in giving that we receive –
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
And it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.

Saint Monica – Prayer

Monica Prayer Card

Oh Glorious St. Monica, through prayerful cries to heaven you were successful in bringing your son, Augustine, back to the faith.  Intercede for all mothers so that they may learn to draw their children to God.  Teach them how to remain close to their children, even those who have gone astray.  Amen.

Hail Mary Biblical?

[ image credit]

This poster is available for sale on their website

Why do Catholics Pray to Mary?

Catholics DO NOT  Pray to Mary, rather they ask Her for Prayer as you will see in the last line” Holy Mary Mother of God Pray for Us Sinners”

“Hail Mary” is in fact an acknowledgement of Mary as seen in Bible verses as demonstrated bellow.

Hail [Mary], full of Grace the Lord is with thee —>Luke 1 : 28 28 And the angel being come in, said unto her: Hail, full of grace, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women.

Blessed art thou amongst women, and Blessed is the fruit of thy womb—>. Luke 1:28 and Luke 1:42 42 And [she] cried out with a loud voice, and said:” Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb”. [she: Elizabeth as shown in verse 41]

Holy Mary Mother of God —> Luke 1:43 [Elizabeth says]43 And whence is this to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? [Christians will agree “God” is Lord]

Pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death, amen —>[ Once acknowledged, we ask her for prayer.]

This now leads us to more questions  in regards to:

Praying to the dead

Misconception that Mary is used as a “mediator”

There is but one mediator and that is Jesus.

I will be blogging about this soon.
