St. Francis of Assisi Prayer

Francis of Assisi Laminated Prayer Card

A Prayer of St. Francis of Assisi

Lord make me an instrument of Your peace.
Where there is hatred let me sow love.
Where there is injury, pardon,
Where there is doubt, faith,
Where there is despair, hope,
Where there is darkness, light, and where there is sadness, joy.
O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled,
as to console;
To be understood, as to understand;
To be loved, as to love;
For it is in giving that we receive –
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
And it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.

Saint Monica – Prayer

Monica Prayer Card

Oh Glorious St. Monica, through prayerful cries to heaven you were successful in bringing your son, Augustine, back to the faith.  Intercede for all mothers so that they may learn to draw their children to God.  Teach them how to remain close to their children, even those who have gone astray.  Amen.

Why do Catholics Pray to Mary?

Catholics DO NOT  Pray to Mary, rather they ask Her for Prayer as you will see in the last line” Holy Mary Mother of God Pray for Us Sinners”

“Hail Mary” is in fact an acknowledgement of Mary as seen in Bible verses as demonstrated bellow.

Hail [Mary], full of Grace the Lord is with thee —>Luke 1 : 28 28 And the angel being come in, said unto her: Hail, full of grace, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women.

Blessed art thou amongst women, and Blessed is the fruit of thy womb—>. Luke 1:28 and Luke 1:42 42 And [she] cried out with a loud voice, and said:” Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb”. [she: Elizabeth as shown in verse 41]

Holy Mary Mother of God —> Luke 1:43 [Elizabeth says]43 And whence is this to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? [Christians will agree “God” is Lord]

Pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death, amen —>[ Once acknowledged, we ask her for prayer.]

This now leads us to more questions  in regards to:

Praying to the dead

Misconception that Mary is used as a “mediator”

There is but one mediator and that is Jesus.

I will be blogging about this soon.

The Year Of Faith

[Image Credit :]

Pope BenedictXVI leads us into “The Year of Faith” from October 2012 to November 2013.

As a Catholic I am calling on all Catholics to re-acquaint themselves with the Church. If you consider yourself to-be non practicing or a “Cafeteria Catholic” this is a great time to do some soul-searching. You might not be in full communion with the church or otherwise indifferent to her teachings. We have to remember that the teachings of the Church is the teaching of Christ himself!. There is not anything any Pope of Bishop can ever do to change that. This is why our Church has stood strong for over 2000 years on Faith and Morals. Never once did Jesus ever say in the bible we can change or compromise on his teaching when society see’s fit and it becomes the norm. If we are to Live in the spirit we are to walk in the spirit .You are certainly allowed to have opinions and be able to think for yourself, however this will never magically change Gods stance.

Perhaps you need to attend Mass as you have not been in a while. Perhaps you need to have your children receive the sacraments, Perhaps you need to read your bible or to re-familiarize yourself with the teachings of Jesus Christ. Why do we have a Mass as opposed to a “Service”? Why is the church so adamantly against abortions? Why cannot Catholics divorce? Whatever your objections are, be sure to re-examine the why. You may discover something you were unaware of that may change your stance,or in the least help you understand it better.

For those of you who feel you are in full communion of the church, you may go to Mass regularly and feel you are doing everything to the best of your knowledge and ability. There is always plenty more to learn. Read a good book. Read or re-read your catechism. Be ready for questions. Study apologetic you have not yet learned.

I personally will be making a deliberate effort to attend Mass regularly and to continue studying Catholic Apologtics. My two eldest sons will be receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation. I am so excited for them and cannot believe how timing can be so perfect. I will also be encouraging my sister to attend Mass more often as well. In efforts to keep me focused, along with prayer, I will be blogging and ordering the EWTN channel from my cable company!!

Here are some websites that I have found to be quite informative : :

Catechism of The Catholic Church

Biblical Evidence for Catholicism by Dave Armstrong Apologist .

The Advent- The Catholic Encyclopedia

Scripture Catholic by John Salza  –

EWTN Global Catholic Television-

O God our Father, in Jesus you call all Christian families and homes

to be signs of living faith. By the light of the Holy Spirit,
lead us to be thankful for the gift of faith, and by that gift
may we grow in our relationship with Jesus, your Son,
and be confident witnesses to Christian hope and joy
to all we meet. In the name of Jesus Christ our Lord.
